In this chapter, the morphology and function of the cells of inflammatory skin diseases are discussed. To better interpret the cytological features of inflammatory processes observed in skin lesions, it is mandatory to know the morphology of the cells that, produced by the bone marrow, reach the skin via the bloodstream following inflammatory stimuli. The inflammatory patterns linked to the percentage of these cells observed on cytological specimens are also discussed; classification of these patterns is mandatory for interpreting the skin lesions.

摘要

In this chapter, the morphology and function of the cells of inflammatory skin diseases are discussed. To better interpret the cytological features of inflammatory processes observed in skin lesions, it is mandatory to know the morphology of the cells that, produced by the bone marrow, reach the skin via the bloodstream following inflammatory stimuli. The inflammatory patterns linked to the percentage of these cells observed on cytological specimens are also discussed; classification of these patterns is mandatory for interpreting the skin lesions.
