This chapter presents an analysis of a large volume of the most up-to-date literature from the past five years on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep/Machine Learning (DL/ML) technologies in Electrical Power Engineering. Both general applications of AI for energy and resource conservation and its potential key role in the reliable and safe operation of power systems are considered. Various intelligent methods and algorithms used in power system analysis are discussed. Extensive studies on the capabilities of AI and ML algorithms demonstrate their high efficiency compared to traditional approaches in tasks related to power system stability, security, protection, and operational control.
