This chapter introduces “Research Camp”, detailing its foundation in academic integrity literature, its design, and its relevance in the era of generative AI. It also presents evidence of Research Camp’s effectiveness in building a culture of integrity at Woodstock School in India. Conducted six times since 2021, Research Camp lasts 1–2 days and features a series of workshops and engagements aimed at helping faculty and students hone basic research skills (paraphrasing, citing, referencing, source evaluation, and using an online research management platform). Peer interaction is central to the Research Camp experience. Teachers and students engage with peers in large- and small-group sessions, and one-on-one mentorship among students enhances skill-building and provides a powerful opportunity for the transmission of peer norms. Student mentors, who have passed Research Camp in the past and received digital badges, revisit their research skills and guide mentees in the completion of research mini projects, which must be submitted by the end of the event. The overarching aim of Research Camp is to give rise to virtuous cycles of peer influence and behaviour that build and sustain an institutional culture of academic integrity. Data analysis presented in this chapter shows that since the introduction of Research Camp, cheating has decreased, and students’ perceptions of their peers’ academic integrity have improved. This suggests a cultural shift in favour of academic integrity.
