Jacksonville, Florida (Cemetery Violence and Social Media)
摘要
Gun violence can take many different forms beyond the actual firing of a bullet and that brings a host of challenges for the field. The emergence and prominence of social media has introduced a new form of violence that is intended to humiliate the loved ones of gun victims in their final resting place. The Jacksonville, Florida, case illustration highlights how gun violence victims cannot find peace and rest, serving as a basis for further violence. Social media has introduced an act of violence that is intended to diminish the existence of buried gun victims and further fuel hate and retaliation, compromising a victim’s family and other loved ones. Shooting media can be just as compromising as shooting a bullet.
