Contributions of Value Management and Colour Abacuses for Improving the Daily Lives of Patients and Their Caregivers
摘要
The regional project proposed by the French Red Cross aims to improve the daily lives of cancer patients and of their caregivers. The first statistical part, based on an in-depth survey via questionnaire among 515 patients and 468 caregivers, was used as a springboard for our additional study. It deals with the same subject using the Value Management approach. The functional analysis, a key element of this approach, examined patients, their caregivers and the various stakeholders that we involved through two focus groups. Five meetings were held to identify and confirm information from the focus group discussions. These meetings were facilitated using an approach that we will present, and which was used to build the necessary consensus to develop suitable solutions within this complex context. The findings highlight the challenges faced in daily life, particularly the need for information, psychological support, and coordination among the involved stakeholders. Consensus was reached on initiatives such as the creation of a “caregiver’s guide” and improving collaboration between healthcare professionals and community organizations. This approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, offers promising avenues to enhance the support provided to individuals with chronic illnesses in other contexts.
