The paper examines the characteristics of the production process associated with its digitalization. It highlights that a promising approach to modeling the subject and object of production is the digital twin model. The stages of the lifecycle of a manufactured object are discussed, along with the key purpose and main features of a digital twin. The paper proposes expanding the concept of a digital twin for production processes by incorporating the categories of “Digital Shadow,” “Digital Twin,” and “Digital Clone.”
