While the range and Doppler processing steps can be performed individually for each antenna signal, azimuthal processing (i.e., the operation of sorting the radar signal in various directions of arrival) requires a collective use of various antenna signals. In this chapter, we describe the classical technique employed with phased-array radars, for which the receive system consists most often of regular linear antenna arrays.
