Foxite sociability took a variety of forms, ranging from more closed, insular gatherings to public, porous events, and this chapter will narrow the focus on specific examples of both types of sociability, particularly the political dinner and the toast. Both insular and porous sociability relied on careful organisation and financing to strategically unite Fox’s faction internally and, at key moments such as elections, with non-Foxites. The body chiefly responsible for managing this sociable organisation was the Whig Club.
