A Nation of Comics? from Criminal to Civil Law
摘要
This chapter explores the intense political and social fallout. The Merkel administration, acutely aware of Germany’s historical responsibilities, intervened to preserve civil harmony and prevent the criminalization of circumcision. The ruling ignited fierce public debate, legal dissent, and sharp responses from Muslim and Jewish communities alike. The case put German constitutional pluralism under pressure and illuminated the lived complexity of faith in democratic regimes.
