The delicate ecosystems of polar regions are affected by emerging plastic pollution problems. The marine plastisphere, defined as an ever-changing and multifaceted environment influenced by the collaboration between microorganisms and plastic in the environment, now stands out as one of the most pressing environmental issues. This chapter aims to make a critical evaluation of the impacts of plastic contamination on marine biodiversity and the related hazards in the poles. Factors in the plastisphere, whether low temperatures or availability of nutrition, unravel the complexity of their life-supporting abilities. The review looks at the broader influence on biodiversity including hazards to macro-organisms due to entanglement and ingestion besides microorganisms. In addition, not only food chains but also the entire structure of the ecosystem is altered. This includes habitat and organism relationships at different trophic levels. Other than only presenting the existing strategies like international agreements, technology upgrades, and community settings, this review reveals novel challenges and a call to action that necessitates sustainable procedures. This review examines the essence of the campaign against plastic pollution in these endangered habitats, which is an increasing threat, and shows how to mitigate it.

摘要
