Blockchain technology is playing a critical role in changing or reshaping the tourism industry via enhanced security and decentralization. Through a systematic literature review, the research pinpoints areas of application in tourism operations where blockchain technology can be applied to enhance transactional security, operational transparency, and minimize central intermediary dependence. Functional blockchain applications such as smart contracts for online booking systems, loyalty programs etc. have been defined those results in traveler convenience and security. Through case studies, achievements and difficulties for the implementation of blockchain are highlighted. Scalability and compatibility issues with digital system in tourism are major concerns in terms of technical challenges. A framework is discussed for the strategic implementation and to address these issues.
