Serious Games: Changing the Environments in the Classrooms

The classroom environment has a substantial impact on the student's education journey. Not only the physical space where teaching and learning occur, but a dynamic ecosystem that shapes the attitudes, behaviour’s, and academic outcomes of students. The objective of this research was to analyse and compare the motivation and engagement of students in two different classroom environments: traditional class and serious game class. The conducted study had 14 participants of which 5 experimented with the serious game while 9 had the conventional class. The results showed that the serious game developed motivated more students than the traditional class, providing positive feedback for future design of educational games, as well as introducing those games in classrooms.
