This paper focuses on the interaction and influence between digital tools, engineering methods and paradigms of sustainability. The goal of our work is to better understand how to design digital tools for strong sustainability contexts of engineering work. Using a framework for engineering strong sustainability, we have defined variables to assess whether digital tools align with these principles. Those variables have been gathered to form an assessment grid which can be used to evaluate tools and methods, with life cycle assessment (LCA) serving as a test case. The results show that the grid is functional, but further work is needed to integrate elements related to care ethics. This paper is an extended version of the paper presented at the HWID conference in September 2024.

摘要
