Designing an Inclusive Communication Solution for Individuals with Visually Impaired (VI) and Speech Impairments (SI)
摘要
The integration of assistive technologies (ATs) has become necessary in solving communication gaps between people with disabilities (PWDs). This study presents a design of a novel solution leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable effective communication between individuals with visually impaired (VI) and speech-impaired (SI). For users with speech-impaired (SI), the solution utilizes text-based input devices, Conversely, visually impaired (VI) get feedback in form auditory that generated from the speech-impaired user’s input. The design focuses on ease of use, accessibility and portability, ensuring that it can adapt to different actual scenarios on our real-world. The goal of our solution is to designing and developing a robust framework that enables seamless and independent communication for individuals with dual sensory disabilities.
