This chapter summarizes the knowledge about psychosocial interventions for persons with intellectual disabilities and psychosis. This is still an understudied topic, despite the long-term suffering of these people and their families. The effects of psychosocial interventions in psychosis remain unclear in people with intellectual disabilities, and there are no existing randomized controlled studies available. However, clinical studies have described psychosocial interventions and proven their effectiveness in smaller samples. These interventions include family interventions, individual and group therapy, sensory therapy aimed at reducing stress and anxiety, psychoeducation, and mental health nursing. Mental health nursing is an important psychosocial intervention, as it can be provided 24/7 and to the entire spectrum of people with intellectual disabilities.
