The Impact of Digital Technology on English Language Teaching in Higher Educational Institutions: An Analysis of Tools, Benefits, and Challenges
摘要
The integration of digital technology in higher education has transformed English language teaching (ELT), enhancing student engagement, learning autonomy, and global connectivity. This study examines the application of digital tools—such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), language learning applications, online collaboration platforms, and interactive multimedia resources—at the university level. Using survey and interview data from students and instructors, the research explores these tools’ impact on language acquisition, student motivation, and teaching practices. Findings indicate notable improvements in vocabulary acquisition, speaking fluency, and listening comprehension, alongside increased student engagement. However, challenges persist, including disparities in digital literacy and limited access to technology, which may hinder effective implementation. Addressing these barriers requires targeted strategies. To optimize digital technology in ELT, the study recommends strengthening institutional support, providing continuous professional development for educators, and ensuring equitable access to digital resources. A more inclusive approach will maximize the benefits of digital tools and advance English language education in the digital era.
