One of the major rising factors nowadays is, the use of automobiles for daily commute and usage of big trucks for shipping goods are rapidly and incredibly increasing in all major and important cities all around the world, which indeed leads to a problem of traffic jam. Indeed, for road users, whether they are residents or professionals, there is an unbalance in the circulation, increased congestion and road traffic affects all types of users from industry to office people on their day-to-day run. This congestion leads to many problems like air and noise pollution, parking problems, affecting quality of life for habitants, traffic problems on the road. This paper aims to develop an intelligent tool exploiting the concepts industry 4.0 as a support for the definition of alternative solutions to road transportation to increase companies’ sustainable performance. The article is organized as follow. After a literature review on artificial intelligence and urban logistics, the intelligent tool being developed for the sustainable optimization will be presented. An illustration case will be exposed.
