Exploitation of the potential of inland waterway transportation (IWT) is seen as a crucial step in reducing carbon emissions in the logistics sector and meeting future transportation needs in alignment with the goals of the European Commission's Green Deal. In this context, establishing resilience within the IWT landscape is considered a key element for sustainable market development. As part of the EU-funded project “Resilience-centric Smart, Green, Networked EU Inland Waterways” (ReNEW), various threats and hazards in IWT have been identified and classified into five event categories: Labor oriented, natural phenomenon disruption events, crime and cyber-attacks, operational disruption events, and other disruption events. Although the repository contains over 50 identified threats and hazards in total, this paper will concentrate on the ones considered highly relevant by practitioners. According to the results, responses vary depending on the geographic regions and business models, and only a small number of events were identified as relevant to the entire sector. The repository of common threats and hazards may be beneficial not only for the ReNEW living labs but also for other stakeholders engaged in IWT, as it enables them to implement suitable resilience strategies.
