Development and Product Innovation of Chain Tool Magazine for Machining Center with Alternative Layouts of Two-Stage Drive

This work is devoted to solving the problem of efficient tool supply for drilling-milling-boring machining centers. A chain tool magazine (CTM) design equipped with a tool positioner for storing, identifying and changing the tool has been developed. Three-dimensional modeling of the main units and parts of the chain magazine has been carried out in the Creo Parametric automated design system. A set of tool block models (including auxiliary and cutting tools) for producing various types of complex housing-type parts in machining centers is proposed. To create a photorealistic representation, the Rendering and Explode tools, which give a potential customer a more realistic idea of the design and capabilities of future products of the tool change system were used. An analysis of a modified version of the worm-cylindrical drive for the tool magazine was proposed. The basic criterion of the modification process is the lubrication efficiency index for two stages of the CTM drive. An analytical formula, with the help of which the same level of immersion of each stage links in the oil bath is structurally realized. Recommendations for partitioning the gear ratio of the worm-cylindrical drive are proposed. Limitations on the contact stress ratio level in the engagement zone and the coefficient of the toothed rim width for two different positions of the worm in the drive are found. This modification of the CTM drive results in increased durability and efficiency.
