Сomputational and Experimental Studies on Contact Interaction of Mock-Up Samples of Complex-Profiled Bodies

The paper examines the influence of the for contacting complex bodies surfaces on the shape and dimensions of their contact. Distributions of contact pressure at different levels of pressure force are also determined. To conduct the experiment, mock-up samples were made by 3D printing from plastic, were used. The manufactured samples have the shape of a cube and a hemisphere. Between the mock-up samples and the supporting surface, a Fuji film sensitive to mechanical pressure is placed. This film fixes the contact pressure distribution. A special experimental stand was designed for loading of contacting bodies. The load is carried out using a hydraulic cylinder. Complete qualitative correspondence of the recorded calculated results is established. The adequacy of the developed mathematical models has been confirmed. In particular, the error in determining the size of the contact area is at the level of 5–7%. In addition, the level of contact pressure was determined with an error of up to 10%. The adequacy of the developed mathematical models was confirmed in the study.
