This chapter explores the role of positive institutions in L2 learning, an area that has received minimal attention despite being one of the three crucial pillars influencing learner success. Moving beyond individual factors, this work investigates social and group-level influences, emphasizing how positive institutions contribute to L2 learning. Through theoretical and practical evidence, the chapter examines the definition and development of positive L2 institutions and their connection to social environments that enhance language acquisition. The guiding questions focus on understanding what constitutes a positive social environment in L2 learning, the impact of social environment factors, and strategies for creating supportive learning institutions. By the end of this chapter, we will gain insights into the key social components influencing L2 learning, understand the mechanisms through which social factors affect learners, and discuss practical approaches for fostering positive institutions that support language learning.
