Based on the green finance theory, this study aimed to investigate the impact of green innovation and green intellectual capital on green financial performance as well as the mediating role of green environmental performance. PLS-SEM was applied to analyze and validate the hypothesis based on the data collected from 300 managers and 44 CEOs from SMES in Vietnam. The research findings showed that green innovation and green intellectual capital have been significantly contributing to improving environmental performance, thereby positively impacting financial performance. The investigation highlighted the mediation of green environmental performance for the relationship between green innovation, green intellectual capital and financial performance. This study finding also provided practical recommendations for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam seeking to improve their financial performance.
