AI Adoption by the European Companies: Drivers and Barriers in the EU
摘要
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) by companies seems to be inevitable to get additional gains in productivity, efficiency, and in market shares. However, the differences among the EU Member States are important. Their gradual reduction is desired and supported by the European Commission Initiatives. In our paper, we try to identify the specific features of companies (size, sector, strategic goals, approach to digital transformation, approach to business model innovation, approach to organization and cultural change, approach to financial and economic leverage, etc.) correlated with the AI adoption in different EU Member States. For this purpose, we use the micro-level data coming from Advanced Technologies for Industry Surveys (ATIS). Our ambition is to identify the drivers and the barriers eventually contributing to the AI adoption across companies in the EU Member States.
