Creating Sex-Positive Classrooms: Preparing Practitioners
摘要
This chapter describes the critical need to foster sex-positive environments in social work education and offers a sex-positive pedagogical tool. Grounded in respect for individual identities, lived experiences, and values and belief systems, sex positivity enhances social workers’ capacity to address human sexuality issues in micro, mezzo, and macro practices. Practical activities are provided to integrate human sexuality perspectives into curriculum by facilitating open dialogues to dismantle biases and stigmas and prepare students to advocate for sexual health and rights across various communities. By addressing sexuality through an intersectional, inclusive, and sex-positive manner, educators assist in cultivating the next generation of socially conscious social work leaders where no topic is considered taboo and sexual health equity is prioritized.
