This chapter provides a way to use Photovoice and storytelling methods as critical pedagogy for social work courses. Through an adaptable, staged process, students are engaged in collective reflections on how knowledge production and power shape worldviews, ethics, and societal issues. As participants and researchers in this process, students draw from course materials to select and analyze topics of interest through photographs and storytelling, which can create reconnections through the inclusion of students’ lived experiences and self-reflexive practice that challenges dominant frameworks and knowledges shaping social work.
