Critical to the social work profession is the use of self, which requires the ability to own one’s position in society and examine and reconcile personal biases. This chapter focuses on the pedagogy that supports reflective writing as a mechanism to achieve this competency. Experiential learning activities to support self-reflection and growth at both the introductory and more advanced levels are provided with a special emphasis on dismantling social injustice by promoting equity and inclusion.
