Thinking Styles and Innovation Drivers: Shaping AI Implementation in Aged and Community Care in Australia
摘要
For a while there have been many pressures on both aged and community care in Australia, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and financial viability. There is little funding for innovation in these organisations; GenerativeAI offers hope and opportunities for significant change. As the sociotechnical ecosystem emerges for GenerativeAI implementation, we need to understand the role of individuals and the pressures on organisations to implement these solutions to maximise safe implementation. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between MindTime® and individual use of GenAI, and perceptions of organisational pressures to implement GenAI in community and aged care settings. A survey was conducted with 43 aged care professionals and researchers at an industry conference to investigate thinking styles and their dispositions toward AI. We found that future thinking was positively associated with individual use of AI. All thinking styles found regulation driving organisational pressure; future thinkers also considered competition a key driver. This study was conducted with a relatively small participant group, in which future (risk-taking) thinkers dominated. Further research is needed to explore how human thinking systems in organisations and other settings relate to GenerativeAI implementation in high-risk settings like aged and community care.
