Transforming Ageing Healthcare: AI in Wearable Health Monitoring Technology
摘要
The increasing senior population presents both a significant healthcare burden and an opportunity for medical innovation, particularly in wearable health monitoring devices. These devices enable continuous tracking of critical health indicators, such as heart rate and physical activity, facilitating early detection of health issues and promoting healthy aging. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) enhances their functionality by analyzing vast streams of data to provide insights, detect anomalies, and predict potential health risks, enabling timely interventions. To maximize usability, intuitive interfaces and adaptive systems must be tailored to older adults’ needs. However, several barriers persist, including high costs, gaps in digital literacy, concerns over data accuracy, and perceived stigma associated with health-monitoring devices. Overcoming these challenges through user-centered design, education, and comprehensive support systems will unlock the full potential of AI-driven wearables in advancing aging healthcare. This chapter will explore how AI-driven innovations can address these barriers, ultimately enhancing healthcare accessibility and improving the quality of life for the elderly.
