Educational Technology is a field that encompasses many domains. We use technology to improve learning in every school subject, and borrow ideas from many different disciplines to improve our practices. Perhaps because of this, there is a wide variety of journals that publish research in our field, including journals focused on technology, online learning, pedagogy, learning science, design process, and education. Because of the wide variety of venues available for publishing this research, it can be difficult to know and follow the threads of leading scholars, topics, and theories across the literature. This has led to a recent renewed emphasis on literature syntheses and meta-analyses to understand the literature.
