This chapter introduces the innovative concept of work-life flow (WLF), developed during the WLF project (Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Project Nr.: 2020-1-ES01-KA203-083282). It reinvents the traditional notion of work-life balance to better align with new societal and organizational requirements and related modern working conditions, including remote and hybrid work, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and flexible employment arrangements. WLF emphasizes the importance of fostering employee well-being to support resilience and sustainable excellence, as outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 8. The chapter begins by examining the transformative trends in the global workforce and the resulting new working conditions. Next, it identifies flaws in the traditional WLB approach, such as the lack of consideration for enriching spillovers between work and non-work, the dynamic interactions between these domains, and the need for inclusivity. WLF addresses these shortcomings. Conceptual elements integrated into WLF, such as job demands and resources, engagement and recovery, as well as boundary management, dynamic flow, flexibility, and personal agency, are explored. We highlight the benefits of a healthy WLF for organizations and employees. Additionally, factors influencing a healthy WLF are analysed, and strategies for managing WLF sustainably to improve organizational performance under modern and upcoming situations, such as remote work, hybrid work, and return-to-office models, are presented. This comprehensive approach redefines work-life management for today’s evolving workplace.

摘要
