In this work, computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering (CAD - CAE) software tools were implemented to make and evaluate the mechanical characteristics of a tibial bone model, which could be implemented in virtual simulations of surgical procedures in traumatology and orthopedics. In particular, our study has been focused on the treatment of the inveterate equinus. Our objective was to compare the stress produced as result of two surgical procedures: a) the transverse osteotomy of the distal tibia and b) the oblique osteotomy of the distal tibia. In the proximal end of the tibia model (370 mm long), a flat cut was made in order to facilitate the placement of the loads used for the static analysis (FEM analysis). In the regions corresponding to the mortise (articular surface), stresses of 10.36 MPa were obtained in the case of the oblique osteotomy and 14.029 MPa in the case of the transverse osteotomy. In addition, in the cut region, stresses of 19.37 MPa were obtained for the oblique osteotomy and 7.36 MPa for the transverse one. Finally, a geometric model made it possible to qualitatively determine a smaller displacement of the distal load axis using oblique osteotomy for the correction of inveterate equinus.

摘要
