Comparison of Rotation of Vectorcardiograms from Frank and Kors Transformation Matrix

The study of cardiac muscle function is crucial for ensuring the understanding of the cardiac cycle. Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Vectorcardiogram (VCG), derived or not from ECG, offers tools for heart examination. This study aims to compare the data from Kors VCG and Frank VCG, focusing on rotation variables of the cardiac signal planes and waves. Forty patients underwent 10-min ECG (12-leads) and Frank’s VCG analysis. Results revealed that, on average, 25% of rotations analyzed differed between Kors and Frank, primarily with clockwise rotation for Kors and anticlockwise for Frank. While maximum rotation errors per plane were similar, lower values were observed in the Sagittal plane, with less variation in the Horizontal plane, possibly due to VCG derivation from ECG leads. Analyzing signal waves, different types rotation were noted in the QRS complex, possibly due to automated acquisition. Over the 10-min exam duration, over 20% of rotations changed direction, with Frank exhibiting more changes over time. Additionally, Frank showed greater variation in the Horizontal and Sagittal planes, with less variation in the QRS complex for both Frank and Kors. This study underscores the significance of VCG analysis in understanding cardiac function, highlighting notable differences between Kors and Frank VCG’s, particularly in rotation variables, which may impact diagnostic accuracy and treatment decisions.
