Strategic Planning and Risk Management Applied to the Maintenance of Medical Equipment at the USP University Hospital
摘要
This article addresses the implementation of strategic planning and risk management in the maintenance of hospital equipment. Many failures cause delays in patient treatment and can pose health risks. Therefore, the authors outlines strategic actions and risk management to increase equipment availability. A survey of the most critical medical equipment was carried out, along with calculations of the frequency of failures and assessments of the consequences for patients. The Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) method of NBR ISO 31010 (2012) was employed to assess and classify the risks. The SWOT Matrix was utilized as a form of strategic planning to propose actions. The objective of minimizing the risks and increasing the availability of each piece of equipment was achieved by modifying the maintenance contracts of the outsourced companies, revising the internal maintenance protocols, and providing support to the operators. Consequently, the efficiency of patient treatment has been enhanced, as the necessary equipment for disease diagnosis is now readily available.
