Healthcare buildings have been gaining prominence in discussions about health promotion, given their relationship with the well-being of their users. In this sense, indoor air quality has come to the fore as there is a growing expectation around the control of indoor air quality in healthcare facilities. A comparative analysis of RDC 50 and NBR 7256, the main Brazilian normative references on the subject, revealed a regulatory incompatibility that could result in damage to the sector because there is no regulatory consensus, highlighting the need to discuss inconsistent prescriptions between the documents, and to urgently update health regulations in order to catch up with scientific and technological advances in the health area.
