This chapter presents the Seductress type, a trend of characters described as, designed to be, or who function as sexually alluring with the intention of infiltration and or the assassination of a target. Its subtypes all have a common representation that focuses on the sexual allure of their characters as a means of facilitating and enabling harm. This type’s representations are commodifiable, controlled, derivative, disposable objects. As the twentieth century ends, the Seductress type shows signs of some overlap with the Sentience archetype, with some representations presenting signs of agency and autonomy. This type’s almost complete overlap with the Sentience archetype in the later representations’ instances shows a clear shift towards agentic, autonomous depictions. The evident change in the Proxy Rape-Revenge and Deadly Seductress subtypes shows how the Seductress type’s fables and science fiction’s (SF) mythos changes to reflect an evolution towards subjective, autonomous depictions.
