Public Policy and the Study of Public Administration in Italy: A Marriage That Is Still Young
摘要
This chapter examines the contribution of public policy—a subfield of political science concerned with how collective problems are framed, analysed, and addressed—to the study of Italian public administration. Although Italian policy scholars have played a notable role in debates on administrative reform and other key topics, and despite the field's moderate level of institutionalisation within the university system, the influence of public policy research on Italian public administration remains limited. This limitation applies not only to its theoretical and analytical contributions but also to its societal relevance and visibility, including its impact on policymaking and recognition by decision-makers.
