Impact of Information Technologies on Railway Transportation: Utilization of Satellite Navigation Systems
摘要
The article discusses current issues regarding the implementation of automatic control of locomotive and train movement on Ukrainian railways. The scope of tasks includes analyzing the determination of the location of moving objects in Ukrainian railway transport, aimed at reducing the workload on control dispatch centers and freeing up approximately 30% of the train dispatcher’s working time, currently spent on data collection and processing. The task of identifying moving objects on the railway and determining their precise location can be addressed by implementing satellite navigation systems and integrating them into Ukrzaliznytsia’s information base. Additionally, selected geoinformation systems should have access to geodetic data of all track system elements, and measurement points should be established throughout the railway network for transmitting Differential Global Positioning System data, ensuring accurate determination of the location of moving objects. Through the classification and comparison of characteristics and functionality of foreign and domestic systems in this area, we have identified the most optimal option for implementation on Ukrainian railways.
