“White matter disease” (WMD) refers to a pattern of abnormalities seen on brain imaging. These abnormalities tend to occur with age, and in some cases, they may cause the symptom of disequilibrium, though it is sensible to screen for more common causes of this symptom. Treatment of the disequilibrium with vestibular rehabilitation therapy is medically reasonable.
