The phrase, “large cochlear aqueduct,” refers to the anatomical configuration of a tiny connection between the inner ear and the inside of the skull. This is rare, and it is occasionally observed on certain brain imaging studies. Investigators disagree on whether this finding is significant, and whether it explains any symptoms or diseases. If an imaging study shows you have a “large cochlear aqueduct,” then consultation with an otolaryngologist is reasonable.
