Bilateral Vestibular Weakness
摘要
Bilateral vestibular weakness (BVW) is an uncommon condition in which there is a reduction in balance-related information traveling from both ears to the brain. Patients with BVW usually experience oscillopsia (the impression that the world moves when your head moves) and imbalance. The diagnosis can be suspected from history and physical examination, but usually requires confirmation from a number of inner ear balance tests. In more than half of cases, no underlying cause of BVW can be determined. Limited improvement may occur with appropriately targeted vestibular rehabilitation therapy.
