During the first couple of years of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers undertook an extraordinary and concerted effort at understanding this disease and its management, yet much about it remains unknown. In 2020, the most common question that we faced in the clinic was, “I’ve been diagnosed with COVID-19, and now I have dizzy/hearing symptoms. Are they related?” In 2021, the most common question that we faced was, “I received a vaccination for COVID-19, and now I have dizzy/hearing symptoms. Are they related?” These are excellent questions, and the answers are not straightforward. Briefly, it appears that COVID-19 may be the cause of symptoms of disequilibrium and hearing abnormalities in some cases. It is less clear whether such symptoms can be confidently classified as true adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
