This study conducts an in-depth architectural analysis of traditional Badjao stilt houses in Surigao City, Philippines, aiming to understand their design principles, cultural significance, and adaptability to environmental conditions. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the methodology includes field observations, semi-structured interviews with Badjao community members and local experts, and a comprehensive literature review. Through detailed documentation and analysis of architectural elements such as construction materials, structural systems, and spatial organization, the research highlights the sustainable and resilient nature of Badjao housing. The findings reveal that these stilt houses not only embody the cultural heritage of the Badjao but also demonstrate effective strategies for living harmoniously with the marine environment. By bridging traditional practices with contemporary architectural analysis, this study offers insights into the preservation and adaptation of indigenous housing in the face of modern challenges and climate change. The research underscores the importance of culturally sensitive and environmentally responsive design in promoting sustainable community development.
