This chapter explores the stigma toward people who use drugs from a theoretical and critical perspective, presenting an analysis framed in how the moralistic view of public policies on the use of these substances, when linked from intersectionality with categories such as gender, ethnicity, and social class, perpetuates actions of discrimination and exclusion that limit the guarantee of social rights for this population. Finally, the chapter underscores the need to reevaluate current approaches toward inclusive models that respect human rights and diversity to promote equitable public policies.
