The evaluation and ranking of alternatives have emerged as a significant area of research in different scientific fields. Despite the various approaches that have been proposed to address this matter, less of them has fully considered the reliability and transparency. To ensure fairness from this regard, this research proposes the application of Z-Decision Making, using predefined linguistic terms. To demonstrate the practical application of the methodology, a numerical example is provided, illustrating how Z-Decision Making can be utilized in the selection process. Additionally, the proposed methodology can also be beneficial for addressing other ranking and decision-making challenges.
