In this chapter, we examine the socio-spatial mobility of Bangladeshi migrants in Greece and analyse the ways in which Bangladeshi migrants evaluate and attach meaning to their social trajectories. The theoretical underpinnings of the chapter draw on contemporary theoretical discussions on transnationalism and mobility approaches that offer a new perspective on the social and spatial mobility of migrants by incorporating both country of origin and host country perspectives to capture the trajectories of individuals in space and time. Methodologically, the chapter draws on biographical interviews with 21 Bangladeshi migrants living in Athens and in villages and towns in Western Greece, conducted in the period 2017–2022. By examining the social and spatial trajectories of Bangladeshis, the analytical focus is on their aspirations and decision-making processes, on their mobilities and anchorages along the cross-border migration journey, but also on the ways in which the broader structural context influences the configuration of these trajectories. We therefore argue that social and spatial mobility research should move away from a nation-state perspective and examine the diverging and converging social positions of Bangladeshi migrants in different contexts in order to investigate the variegations of socio-spatial trajectories of Bangladeshi migrants.
