Mechanisms and Their Features
摘要
In this chapter, we explore the various types of planar motions and the basic characteristics of a mechanism. Focus is on motion analysis rather than on the forces and moments that generate those motions. Topics like different types of joints, mobility, and degrees of freedom are discussed. Kinematic inversions of a mechanism are introduced and it is shown how Grashof’s law can be used to predict the absolute motion of each one of the kinematic inversions. A frequently used type of mechanism, i.e., the quick-return mechanism, is also analyzed in detail.
