A Look to the Future: Investing in Education
摘要
The main aim of this book is to propose how a focused shift in the teacher-student relationship can foster a better teaching and learning experience. However, it also advocates for a broader systemic vision of future-oriented teaching that will have a strong emphasis on creative thinking and teaching methods. This is essential to allow a shift in the teacher-student relationship because true change relies also on adequate systemic revisions, that is, more generous budgeting, enhancing teachers’ status and salaries, recruiting high-quality professionals through offers of grants and signing bonuses, implementing innovative teacher training programs, and reforming the school system. All these elements align with the mission and goals of the Israeli government, particularly the Ministry of Education. To illustrate what such a change can bring about, this chapter compares the Israeli system of education (which can also be equated to other systems worldwide) with that of Finland, long held to be a paragon of a successful education system.
