Teachers do not work in isolation. Their role is much more complex, partly because parents play a critical role in evaluating the teacher’s actions, behavior, and educational approach. It is difficult to think of a job or role where the “service provider” (teacher) faces so much scrutiny from a “secondary body” (parent), who often intervenes and offers (usually unsolicited) feedback. This chapter focuses on parental involvement in school education, a dynamic process that is rapidly gaining momentum. While engaging and involving parents is beneficial, it is crucial to uphold the rules and guidelines of the educational institution. Below, we will explore different types of parents and offer simulations of how to conduct meetings effectively.
