Digital health transformation (DHT) represents a critical advancement in healthcare delivery through technology integration. However, Africa’s role in this transformation remains poorly understood due to a lack of comprehensive studies. This paper aims to bridge this knowledge gap by analyzing the implementation of DHT in Africa through a bibliometric review of scientific publications. A detailed bibliometric analysis was performed, examining 59 relevant articles that span various topics, including telemedicine, mobile health, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology. The analysis reveals key findings: a significant emphasis on collaborative initiatives, the necessity of capacity-building efforts, and the importance of adapting user-centered design to local contexts. These insights address critical issues such as the uneven distribution of digital health resources and the challenge of integrating these technologies within diverse healthcare systems across Africa. The primary contribution of this study is the identification of existing research gaps and practical challenges in DHT implementation specific to Africa. By highlighting these issues, the paper provides a framework for future research and practical strategies to enhance digital health interventions. This work aims to foster equitable access to digital health technologies and improve healthcare outcomes by addressing regional disparities and promoting tailored solutions.
