The creation and maintenance of Enterprise Knowledge Graphs (EKGs) are knowledge-intensive tasks that require both ontology and domain expertise. AOAME is a modeling tool that supports these tasks by enabling domain experts to create and maintain EKGs through meta-modeling and modeling. This paper describes the foundational approach and mechanisms underlying AOAME for creating and maintaining knowledge graphs from graphical models. AOAME has enabled the development of applications that support the creation of ontology-based models across various domains and is also used for teaching purposes at universities. Unlike other knowledge graph editors, AOAME does not require ontology expertise and ensures consistency between domain-specific graphical models and knowledge graphs, even when changes are made to either.
